Small Town's Lively

Thanksgiving we kept it lively.

Intense dart matches (Cricket folks, it's all about Cricket!)
And if you know a thing or two bout it look at those darts!

Also, I made this amazing gluten-free pie
Recipe .:Here:.

(If you want to know ... the floor was the only one who
got a taste of it... I dropped it shortly thereafter this pic.)

I made the pie for my ward to help out, because we were headed
to Chuck-a-rama with some great friends. You have got to do that
one year. No mess, cheap, and a blast. And a frozen yogurt machine.

Sadly we still had to work (welcome to real life!) But we had
our usual strolls to the Valley Wide to get some pops.

Black Friday presented itself with some great deals online...
we went to see what Walmart was like at 8pm because
Austin and I had never "Black Friday-ed."

Never. Again.

However.... midnight at Target, Santa came
early to Brennyn! Great deal on some boots I wanted for
Christmas :) And after a quick Walmart visit, we had everything
for our Christmas festivities!

Since most of our shopping was done online, we check the
mail every day to fill the space underneath our Christmas tree!
Technically one of Austin's gifts was the first to come,
and the first little present under the tree :)

Mail time has never been so fun!

  3. LOVE the boots. Sara, Lauren and I had a conversation on Thanksgiving wondering why we don't all wear boots ALL the TIME in the winter!? Seriously. They're the best. Also, I did Black Friday once or twice when my kids were wee ones. That was enough. Insanity. For nothing.

Sounds like you had a great day though. Fun times in Idaho. Yeah. And online-shopping-packages-in-the-mail is awesome. Happy Holidays, Brauston Nation.

    P.S. Sorry about the pie.

    1. Thanks Melody! Haha! Yeah I'm deciding packages are almost tooo much fun to receive in the mail :D Makes me think I should send some more traditional letters to people... Yeah walmart was just DVDs! And off-brand plasmas! I didn't get it!

Thanks! Kohls actually had great deals... $100 boots for $29! I got mine at Target though. I'm learning the value of cowgirl boots and boots and... more boots! Why don't we!

Joyeux Noël

My Mom and Lance came out! Austin and I took it as an opportunity to cook the heck out of our kitchen for them! We got a white Christmas which was amazing. For two reasons: Mom and Lance are from California and so it was magical for them, and it could be our last white Christmas for a while! (A lot of schools are in the South.)  My mom's side of the family is very German so we celebrate Christmas Eve. We used to have minestrone soup, but everyone hated it. So... we turned to our California roots and make tortilla soup instead. As a kid, it always made sense that Christmas happened at night. All the pictures you saw of baby Jesus were at night with the star. My mom said when she was little, she just thought German kids were special haha! I made my mom and Lance some hardcase books, a snowglobe, and got them a ceramic ornament. Santa also surprised them in the morning with a stocking ;) My grandma Hofmann used to make these egg ornaments (she passed away in 19...

Snowglobes of Wonder and Joy

I made snowglobes!  I've always loved those, even as a little kid. Then I saw DIY's on Pinterest, and thought.... Why hadn't I thought of making them before?? So in a nutshell, jars, hot glue, brush christmas trees (or anything plastic-y) glitter... and then to fill the jar, distilled water, glitter and some corn syrup to thicken it! I made all of these (already had jars) for $4.00! We attempted a gingerbread house with some friends... as you can see it looks like a crackhouse.    So... I think it's best I stick with the kind of art I know haha! I made a lot of books this break, and Austin can't complain cause he's an Eng. Lit.  He's been busy cooking some more amazing meals and snacks! Those are a healthy alfredo with quinoa base, and the other are applechips! Visit our Recipe page for cooking instructions .:here:. Also, for those who don't already know after my super obnoxious facebook excitement...

Flying Solo

Austin's been a solo man as of late....  I got super sick with a bacterial infection (as of late, more tests to come.) But before that was Austin with a 5 day flu, and then me with the flu, and then when I got better from that, I got an infection woot woot! Healthy over here! I got super flu-y again over the weekend and I won't go into details. I got a bit better and I had been fine to go teach a class on Monday at my college because I had gotten over what I though to be whatever Austin had. Then Tuesday went to my CNA class. And while I was there I was talking to a friend. She was telling me about her annoying apartment neighboors and I shouted, " UM... I'mma be sick hold on...." And I swear to St. Maria I have every trash can mapped out in that EITC building because when I went bursting down the hallway to the bathroom, it felt like friggin videogames and finding checkpoints.  I ended up cleaning the EITC bathroom stall for them.... let's...
