Lots of Food.

Everything has to do with food lately...  We said our goodbyes in Casper, and Austin's mom treated us to our favorite diner. I mean look at that milkshake! That thing is glory! In fact, there's so much YES in that milkshake that Austin can't even handle it right now.  I miss those guys already! Kristine is staying behind to shadow a PA and work. Knowing that we started long, long shifts and full time and then some, we had to prepare our meals in advance. Pinterest, Pinterest, Pinterest.  That's all I can say. I was able to make gluten free turkey meatloaf, and beef and pork asian slowcooker meatballs. Both on our recipe page! The meatloaf:  The meatballs in which we stored in the freezer for another day: (I froze dinner portions of the sauce by ziplocking them. That's the printmaking container I was talking about haha, good ol' graphic chemical citric acid....)  Lastly, I have a new project I want to do (w

Family Time

We had a weekend adventure!   Everybody was down in Laramie, and Austin's little sister Kristine came to lunch with us.  We have many a nights from the summer where we spent the early AM's at a 24 hour Mexican restaurant, and so it was only natural we went to one again.  Austin started work at the Hilton, and I had a surprise change of events (possibly) with the job situation. So... more to come on that, I find out all next week.  All that meant we had a weekend free! And Austin's dad wasn't working either. Perfect! So as soon as I got home from my interview, we left for Casper. (2 hours away) Supposedly, the 31st of May is the "guarantee" day that your plants will no longer encounter a frost. We helped Austin's parents pick out plants, and do their pots for this summer :) First we went to local greenhouses, (where we all saw what we thought was a hummingbird... it was a MOTH.) And we saw a funny danger-d

Le Jardin

The Garden is officially planted! First we had to start by ripping up all the crab grass that had overrun what used to be flower beds. It was bad. As you can see our grass is bad. So we figured our land owner wouldn't mind if we cleaned the space up and used it nicely. That silver garbage can --all weeds and crabgrass we hoed up.  We hoed about a foot down, and then to make it even deeper and easier to grow the plants, I took on something I saw my great grandma do when I was growing up. We built trenches. I never forget digging into the side of these things, and all these Idaho Potatoes would be buried in them. So exciting! So after getting all the roots and drying out the weeds, we built some. I've been reading Wyoming's grow website for weather conditions, and the type of soil we have here. It's alkali soil, and volcanic. Things like beets, potatoes and beans grow well here. There were also suggestions on everything else, they just have shorter gr

Killing Animals and Fruit

Austin and I have job situations happening, and so we are enjoying our last few days of freedom!  Although... I'll admit we got a little bored.  Don't worry, it was for an awesome Pinterest project I saw, although we didn't want to invest in gold spray paint. They look pretty awesome as they are. (Under $5!) We have no magnets, now we have some terrifyingly awesome magnets haha! The original pin: Being out of school and work (besides art! you're always doing art jobs!) has given us so much time to do things like garden, make new recipes, discover new shows we love like Bewitched... Even a chess game where he won and I won ;) This morning I tried that one health shake that's been going around: I have to say, it is really really good! It tastes like an apple pie shake! I altered it a tad by doing some vanilla protein powder in it, but I think it makes it taste way more dessert-y.  Banana, 3/4 cup skim milk,

Bike Ride Friday

Whoa, I figured out GIFs! I got my crates attached and my bag with my camera: Austin found a bike trail by our place :) So our trip commenced, and a river and church later, here's what I got of our beautiful area in which we live! We saw a beaver in the river, and of course I cannot get enough of the train right by us, so I'm making you watch a 15 sec clip. They are SO cool to watch on the bridge (they go under you) and exciting at night when they are all lit up! They double stack the carts, and there's a giant pillar I need to get a picture of that says "Union Pacific." Train Clip!
