Lots of Food.

Everything has to do with food lately...

We said our goodbyes in Casper, and Austin's mom treated us to our favorite diner. I mean look at that milkshake! That thing is glory! In fact, there's so much YES in that milkshake that Austin can't even handle it right now.

I miss those guys already! Kristine is staying behind to shadow a PA and work.

Knowing that we started long, long shifts and full time and then some, we had to prepare our meals in advance. Pinterest, Pinterest, Pinterest.

That's all I can say. I was able to make gluten free turkey meatloaf, and beef and pork asian slowcooker meatballs. Both on our recipe page!

The meatloaf:

The meatballs in which we stored in the freezer for another day:
(I froze dinner portions of the sauce by ziplocking them. That's the printmaking container I was talking about haha, good ol' graphic chemical citric acid....)

Lastly, I have a new project I want to do (when I get time, holy cow this full-time server and front counter work we both have is killer.) When up in Casper, they had all these cool cacti, and Susan bought two for an early birthday gift! I have these small planters, and I want to make dangling cacti by making yarn macramé slings.

Who knew cacti were so colorful?

Well, here's a nasty selfie. McDonald's has offered me a great job I'm enjoying, and it'll be crazy hard work the whole summer to save money for the school year! Nope, haven't got "coned" yet. Thank goodness I'm not in the drive thru. Tell you what, if you want to develop your multi-tasking skills.... work a crazy busy restaurant.

I am sure I will have plenty of stories. I already do haha!

Austin is facing a conference that will stay at the Hotel he serves at, and they all have meal vouchers. That'll be exciting haha!

All I can say is people better watch out because if they are mean to me now, they might end up in my operating room one day and before they go under I'll say, "May I take your order?"

Mwahaha.

Cheers from Laramie, WY! Xoxo

The Last Stretch

I am on the last little stretch before the surgery! It's amazing how in denial I can still be, thinking that I do not have anything wrong. But then you get a wake up call when your body does funky things you can't stop, and then you fall down the stairs twice. Once I popped my shoulder, and the second I popped a hip and broke my back molar coming down on my side. So I got that tooth fixed ASAP, thank the heavens it didn't damage any roots! At the dentist my mouth was opened for an extended period of time, and needles were involved. Just when you think you have this whole Dystonia thing under control.... another reminder! I got lock jaw while working as a floor nurse! My jaw had increasing pain through the week, and I revisited the dentist. Nothing wrong with my tooth. At work, it sealed shut (and not to be gross) but when you have an intense cramp like that, it causes immense pain. I do in fact throw up sometimes from the pain. Well if your mouth seals... and tons...

Snowglobes of Wonder and Joy

I made snowglobes!  I've always loved those, even as a little kid. Then I saw DIY's on Pinterest, and thought.... Why hadn't I thought of making them before?? So in a nutshell, jars, hot glue, brush christmas trees (or anything plastic-y) glitter... and then to fill the jar, distilled water, glitter and some corn syrup to thicken it! I made all of these (already had jars) for $4.00! We attempted a gingerbread house with some friends... as you can see it looks like a crackhouse.    So... I think it's best I stick with the kind of art I know haha! I made a lot of books this break, and Austin can't complain cause he's an Eng. Lit.  He's been busy cooking some more amazing meals and snacks! Those are a healthy alfredo with quinoa base, and the other are applechips! Visit our Recipe page for cooking instructions .:here:. Also, for those who don't already know after my super obnoxious facebook excitement...

Joyeux Noël

My Mom and Lance came out! Austin and I took it as an opportunity to cook the heck out of our kitchen for them! We got a white Christmas which was amazing. For two reasons: Mom and Lance are from California and so it was magical for them, and it could be our last white Christmas for a while! (A lot of schools are in the South.)  My mom's side of the family is very German so we celebrate Christmas Eve. We used to have minestrone soup, but everyone hated it. So... we turned to our California roots and make tortilla soup instead. As a kid, it always made sense that Christmas happened at night. All the pictures you saw of baby Jesus were at night with the star. My mom said when she was little, she just thought German kids were special haha! I made my mom and Lance some hardcase books, a snowglobe, and got them a ceramic ornament. Santa also surprised them in the morning with a stocking ;) My grandma Hofmann used to make these egg ornaments (she passed away in 19...
