Rain and Bikes

It rained super hard today! Apparently that is unusual for May in Wyoming, so I made a little video of it. It literally is of rain, just warning you haha!

We've been job hunting like crazy. I found out Wyoming will not even look at you until you have a Wyoming license in hand. So I will have to wait for a month to receive it in the mail. Boo. But good news is I got a full-time insurance benefits and everything job at McDonald's! (You know, the stereotypical job people always joke about when you graduate with your art degree haha) No, I've actually been blessed to have many art opportunities after graduating, it's awesome!! In fact, I got a check in the mail from my illustrations that covers a month's rent woot! I've got the whole summer to work and save! I am also waiting to hear back from the place where I'd get to be a phlebotomy person, so hopefully!

Austin got interviews at Wells Fargo as a teller, and the Hilton. Also, we are both waiting after interviews at a rehabilitation place. We've been go-go-go from 8am to 3pm everyday. I cannot tell you how many places we've looked and applied. Even online, it's been intense. So we're grateful to find these positions at least for the summer!

I caught Austin after a long day and night of applying:

We've been cooking lots at home, and big portions of cheap stuffs like our thai peanut soup! It stretches and has lots of protein. And mung bean noodles are the best and cheap haha!

I love our new kitchen island too, we had to get one at Walmart because we don't have a lot of counter space. After having it though, I think I'd get one even if I did have counter space because it's so freaking convenient to have --roll it where ever! Chop the veggies by the stove, and they're right there to dump :) Veggies btw are craptons cheaper here in Wyoming because the Walmart distribution center is in Cheyenne (45min away.) We get everything fresh, fresh, fresh! (For being inland.....)

We've been doing small things so we don't spend. I found 89¢ Mango juice cans for a mini-date from the Philippines! Straight up mango juice. I really want to go back to St. Lucia now....We literally ate them in the ocean fresh from the trees. Or if you were feeling frivolous like I did one day... get a Mango shake lol!

But these came pretty freaking close:

It's interesting because Laramie is such a cycling town. Not competitive, but everyone even beyond college students owns some schnazy bikes. Everyone rides everywhere! I was so happy because Austin talked about using part of his graduation money on a walmart bike like mine, and he finally got one! Plus we did some upgrades as we are totally able to bike for shopping. My bike finally got a crate and rack on the back! So did Austin's! Speaking of which, we are going to ride to get a movie to rent tonight. Loving it! (Okay shut up.... "I'm Lovin' it!" hahahaha)

Call Me a SAHM in Training

Stay at Home Mom (SAHM)  Besides a medical leave and two maternity leaves, I’ve always been a full-time plus on call nurse mom. I am now almost two months into being a SAHM and I would have to still say I’m training! A lot of you have told me routine is so important, and I’ve been trying my darndest to do that. We do library time or errands in the morning, naptime and quiet time after lunch, and art and outdoor/indoor active  play until dad comes home! Some days it blows up in my face, much like what we’d call a s-tshow at work, haha! Except these are my monkeys and my circus! But mostly because I am learning and loving it, too. I struggle with anxiety and depression. Ever since I was little. My post-partum depression with R was so difficult. I am so lucky to have an incredible husband and health team that honestly kept me alive during that time. Luckily, I was treated prior to giving birth to A too because a) it was known I get PPD and b) it’s better and easier to tr...

The Last Stretch

I am on the last little stretch before the surgery! It's amazing how in denial I can still be, thinking that I do not have anything wrong. But then you get a wake up call when your body does funky things you can't stop, and then you fall down the stairs twice. Once I popped my shoulder, and the second I popped a hip and broke my back molar coming down on my side. So I got that tooth fixed ASAP, thank the heavens it didn't damage any roots! At the dentist my mouth was opened for an extended period of time, and needles were involved. Just when you think you have this whole Dystonia thing under control.... another reminder! I got lock jaw while working as a floor nurse! My jaw had increasing pain through the week, and I revisited the dentist. Nothing wrong with my tooth. At work, it sealed shut (and not to be gross) but when you have an intense cramp like that, it causes immense pain. I do in fact throw up sometimes from the pain. Well if your mouth seals... and tons...

Second Time Around

We got a White Christmas!  It continued to snow and the boys had enough to play in after these photos were taken. They were able to build a snow man with Austin, too! Austin was able to take a full week and a half off, so our holiday time was amazing.  ^This last photo was actually Christmas Eve as my side of the family celebrates the traditional German way. Austin and I have managed to compromise so that Christmas Eve is a big celebration, nativity-reading, music listening-- and we open non-Santa gifts. Now, in the morning, Santa comes with stockings and their gift. Stockings were pretty amazing when I was a kid! It was a big deal too! Austin's family had very specific things in their stockings that were traditional with Santa like a huge orange, apple, a bag of nuts, etc. that we keep alive, too.  We successfully mixed our holiday foods as well. The Carmen family does scones, breakfast casserole, and other fun holiday dishes, and my family did a soup every Christmas Eve...
