75 Degrees of Xmas

This year we spent Christmas in San Diego with my side of the family (Dad's.)

It was so much fun because Austin has never celebrated Xmas with me like that!

We saw so much family and spent quality time together --cooking, playing poker, and doing crafts with the little one.

Before we left, I got all geared up with Austin. We watched Christmas movies, and made stuff including little clay figurines of us haha!

We snacked on pretty Christmas tin treats...

I painted my nails Pinterest style with all the Holiday glitter ombré.

I made an ornament earlier with my mom over Thanksgiving,

and I made spring rolls before we left!

Dad treated us so well and made sure we got our blast of the San Diegan experience. Lambretta ride, Trophy Motorcycle vintage shop (you guys... I scored a 1960's dress, photos to come!), and Santa getting Mia a guinea pig :)

Of course we enjoyed lots of beach time, family, and late Poker nights. It was a Xmas to remember!

Call Me a SAHM in Training

Stay at Home Mom (SAHM) Besides a medical leave and two maternity leaves, I’ve always been a full-time plus on call nurse mom. I am now almost two months into being a SAHM and I would have to still say I’m training! A lot of you have told me routine is so important, and I’ve been trying my darndest to do that. We do library time or errands in the morning, naptime and quiet time after lunch, and art and outdoor/indoor active play until dad comes home! Some days it blows up in my face, much like what we’d call a s-tshow at work, haha! Except these are my monkeys and my circus! But mostly because I am learning and loving it, too. I am so lucky to have an incredible husband and health team that honestly kept me alive during that time. Holiday Hullabaloo

It is full blown Christmas at the Carmens! The boys have been busy with holiday crafts, decorating and drawing. Because the colder weather draws us indoors and off our scooters and bikes (though we still go on walks these days in the bike trailer all bundled up) Our house these days looks more like this: We’ve had so much fun doing all the typical holiday crafts and baking with the boys! We went to Queensgate Gardens where they got to meet Santa and make their own ornament. We also made a Costco ginger bread house (you guys this thing is $9 and prebuilt!), snow globes, sugar cookies, decorated foam gingerbread men... the holidays are the best to fill your time up with kid activities. When Family Visits

This past weekend, we got to spend time with my lovely parents! Lance (my step-dad) and my mom came out to Rexburg to party po-dunk style with us haha! First we took them to R-Mountain which is actually a crater volcano :) Maybe you recognize it from the 4th of July adventures of Braustin? We had finals (so Austin and I look like train wrecks only getting 6 hours of sleep in the last three days... haha!) Lance and mom were doing wonderful though, and were more energetic than us for sure! Then we made some taffy, but what we didn't know was our candy thermometer we bought was broken in the first place. So it never rose past 150ºF despite it looking like it burned. Yeah. It ended up looking like an organ. And it also ate our black plastic spoon because it rose so high in temperature. It was molten lava! Belonged on R-Mountain that's for sure!
