Baby's Room!

I kept holding this post off because of all the projects I wanted to get done!
Now the last thing I have to do is make some artwork, but I have been so busy as of late.

So minus the artwork, (which I suppose can call for another post!) here is Baby Boy's room!

I did pack a hospital bag with some cute as heck burp rags, a blanket and baskets my mom made... I will have to post those sometime as well! Paige (my bestie who threw my baby shower) had the great idea to do books instead of cards, so now we have a collection. Brilliant idea, we forgot about doing picture books!

I think my favorite part is the book collection :D As it grows, we will have to get a book shelf or figure out how to do the mounted bookshelves.

The quilt I made, and the IKEA chair that has a story behind it. Before my DBS surgery (all about it .:here:.) I was super stressed and nervous about having my brain operated on. Being in Denver, the best way Austin and his mom knew how to distract me was to take me to IKEA. We ended up sitting in these chairs *super comfy* and rocking the night away before digging into a ton of swedish meatballs before the "no eating after midnight" thing. Austin and I swore we were gonna get this chair when we had an excuse lol. Well, a baby a few months later was a good excuse!

IKEA cart! It was my nursing book and supplies stand for a while, but Baby can borrow it for a while haha! SO many cute little onsies and clothes!

We are choosing to use a bassinet for the time being because bassinet = light and easy to bring into the parent's room during the first few months! Austin's parents have a crib they are giving us and are fixing up for when he's a bit older --super sweet of them!

I couldn't throw away Paige's decorations! Why not use them to hide some tupperware full of baby supplies?

One of the first things I bought from a friend from nursing school! Hand me downs and used stuff = loads of savings.

There you have it! I'm 34 1/2 weeks and I swear the kid just lightened on me... (dropped or whatever they call the baby's head becoming engaged in my pelvis. Women's health is not my thing and will never be my thing haha) and I may or may not understand now what they mean by "lightning crotch" haha! It huuuurts! I am hoping he comes sooner than later, but you never know! Especially with your first they can be overdue.

Hopefully not overdue and with poundage on him because with my DBS units, there has been talk between my doctors and anesthesiologists about not being able to do even an epidural without having to shut my units off. SO natural birth or units off.... that's a great choice! (not) I've been in contact with the DBS center though so hopefully I'll have more options open up. Heck, I'm just excited though to meet the little guy! So bring it on mother nature!! (but you know... be nice about it? Please?)

I will have to post the rest of our home once we clean up from the party! Just like the baby room, we still have to hang artwork but hey. :P

Still working hard at the hospital, and hopefully my water won't break like a movie scene when I'm in pre-op sticking an IV in a patient hahahaha! I am super nervous about it happening like that, but no complaints! Still playing tennis and moving around (though waddling since Baby dropped!)

Can't wait to meet him!

XOXO

The Last Stretch

I am on the last little stretch before the surgery! It's amazing how in denial I can still be, thinking that I do not have anything wrong. But then you get a wake up call when your body does funky things you can't stop, and then you fall down the stairs twice. Once I popped my shoulder, and the second I popped a hip and broke my back molar coming down on my side. So I got that tooth fixed ASAP, thank the heavens it didn't damage any roots! At the dentist my mouth was opened for an extended period of time, and needles were involved. Just when you think you have this whole Dystonia thing under control.... another reminder! I got lock jaw while working as a floor nurse! My jaw had increasing pain through the week, and I revisited the dentist. Nothing wrong with my tooth. At work, it sealed shut (and not to be gross) but when you have an intense cramp like that, it causes immense pain. I do in fact throw up sometimes from the pain. Well if your mouth seals... and tons...

Snowglobes of Wonder and Joy

I made snowglobes!  I've always loved those, even as a little kid. Then I saw DIY's on Pinterest, and thought.... Why hadn't I thought of making them before?? So in a nutshell, jars, hot glue, brush christmas trees (or anything plastic-y) glitter... and then to fill the jar, distilled water, glitter and some corn syrup to thicken it! I made all of these (already had jars) for $4.00! We attempted a gingerbread house with some friends... as you can see it looks like a crackhouse.    So... I think it's best I stick with the kind of art I know haha! I made a lot of books this break, and Austin can't complain cause he's an Eng. Lit.  He's been busy cooking some more amazing meals and snacks! Those are a healthy alfredo with quinoa base, and the other are applechips! Visit our Recipe page for cooking instructions .:here:. Also, for those who don't already know after my super obnoxious facebook excitement...

Joyeux Noël

My Mom and Lance came out! Austin and I took it as an opportunity to cook the heck out of our kitchen for them! We got a white Christmas which was amazing. For two reasons: Mom and Lance are from California and so it was magical for them, and it could be our last white Christmas for a while! (A lot of schools are in the South.)  My mom's side of the family is very German so we celebrate Christmas Eve. We used to have minestrone soup, but everyone hated it. So... we turned to our California roots and make tortilla soup instead. As a kid, it always made sense that Christmas happened at night. All the pictures you saw of baby Jesus were at night with the star. My mom said when she was little, she just thought German kids were special haha! I made my mom and Lance some hardcase books, a snowglobe, and got them a ceramic ornament. Santa also surprised them in the morning with a stocking ;) My grandma Hofmann used to make these egg ornaments (she passed away in 19...
