The Big Shebang

We made it!

I had my last Print Sale

I did my last painting, and here's something neat --those paint brushes were given to me in high school, and I have preferred them ever since.

For our graduation party, I made the infamous cake we make for everything Art. A hazelnut, coconut creme frosting cake. It's all gluten-free too!

Recipe:

Overnight chill two cans of coconut fat.

Pre-heat oven to 350°F

In a Blender: 1 cup chopped hazelnuts, 8 eggs, 1 1/4 cup sugar.
Add 4 tbl potato starch, 3 tea baking powder.

Pour in greased and floured two 8" rounds.

Bake 15-20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Coconut Creme: Drain liquid from fat solids. Whip and slowly add 1 1/2 cups sugar, and 4 tea vanilla extract.

Keep Chill!

All of our family came out, and we couldn't have had a better time. Lance and my mom came out first, and we did our favorite hike up Menan Butte. It was fun because we got rained on, and the wind was fierce! As mom described it, it was a real "western outdoors experience!" I can't wait until the pictures come back from Lance's iPhone.

We rented out the clubhouse because our apartment is small. Grilled chicken, fresh fruit, and pin-the-tassel-on-the-graduate were all part of the fun and games ;)

We toured my BFA as well because no one had seen it yet!

I told Austin I wish they could hang each page of his research paper up on the wall like a gallery haha!

Austin was kind to come to my commencement (we just did that because the whole graduation is waaaay too long) because he said he only cares about getting his law degree. If you know us, we are trouble when we sit next to each other. Luckily we had a cohort up there with us that joined in on laughs later on. It was a blast. They even used a quote from me!

My Grandpa took all the grad photos! He's awesome :)

Since everything has ended, we've found ourselves with so much time on our hands! It's weird! Even during the breaks we have always worked, or found things that needed to be done. The only thing we have to do is pack! (Of course I still have EITC and Austin a bit of work) but this time around.... we really have a break!

So.... between now and August when we start again, I've been taking on a few projects!
Austin's been reading lots (of course, he's an Eng. Lit. B.A.) and enjoying being awake and alive to the world haha! (Poor guy had some laaaate nights.)

Yay for cheap fabric finds! Shirts, infinity scarves, and pocket skirts!

Joyeux Noël

My Mom and Lance came out! Austin and I took it as an opportunity to cook the heck out of our kitchen for them! We got a white Christmas which was amazing. For two reasons: Mom and Lance are from California and so it was magical for them, and it could be our last white Christmas for a while! (A lot of schools are in the South.)  My mom's side of the family is very German so we celebrate Christmas Eve. We used to have minestrone soup, but everyone hated it. So... we turned to our California roots and make tortilla soup instead. As a kid, it always made sense that Christmas happened at night. All the pictures you saw of baby Jesus were at night with the star. My mom said when she was little, she just thought German kids were special haha! I made my mom and Lance some hardcase books, a snowglobe, and got them a ceramic ornament. Santa also surprised them in the morning with a stocking ;) My grandma Hofmann used to make these egg ornaments (she passed away in 19...

Snowglobes of Wonder and Joy

I made snowglobes!  I've always loved those, even as a little kid. Then I saw DIY's on Pinterest, and thought.... Why hadn't I thought of making them before?? So in a nutshell, jars, hot glue, brush christmas trees (or anything plastic-y) glitter... and then to fill the jar, distilled water, glitter and some corn syrup to thicken it! I made all of these (already had jars) for $4.00! We attempted a gingerbread house with some friends... as you can see it looks like a crackhouse.    So... I think it's best I stick with the kind of art I know haha! I made a lot of books this break, and Austin can't complain cause he's an Eng. Lit.  He's been busy cooking some more amazing meals and snacks! Those are a healthy alfredo with quinoa base, and the other are applechips! Visit our Recipe page for cooking instructions .:here:. Also, for those who don't already know after my super obnoxious facebook excitement...

Flying Solo

Austin's been a solo man as of late....  I got super sick with a bacterial infection (as of late, more tests to come.) But before that was Austin with a 5 day flu, and then me with the flu, and then when I got better from that, I got an infection woot woot! Healthy over here! I got super flu-y again over the weekend and I won't go into details. I got a bit better and I had been fine to go teach a class on Monday at my college because I had gotten over what I though to be whatever Austin had. Then Tuesday went to my CNA class. And while I was there I was talking to a friend. She was telling me about her annoying apartment neighboors and I shouted, " UM... I'mma be sick hold on...." And I swear to St. Maria I have every trash can mapped out in that EITC building because when I went bursting down the hallway to the bathroom, it felt like friggin videogames and finding checkpoints.  I ended up cleaning the EITC bathroom stall for them.... let's...
