Colo(u)rful Colorado

Having days off is the nicest thing.  I work on my illustrations with Juno keeping me company. The Farmer's Market comes around. And sometimes when we both have two days off, we go on mini excursions :) Colorado! (Loveland is 90min, Fort Collins 60min, and Denver 120min)  Loveland was the place of choice this time around because we always love to do a little school shopping at outlets. Normally we go labor day weekend in Sacramento at the Folsom Outlets when we visit my parents, but we are so far away from California now.  Austin got a nice racer stripe leather jacket, (of course on a blowout clearance) and I got two cute new shirts for fall from one of my favourites, Tommy Hilfiger. Of course on blowout.  There is something amazing about sales with clearance on top of it haha! You know my favourite yellow dress I have? $3 at Target. It was one I saw online for $30. I ran into it on a clearance rack as a returned internet sale. With an ad

Birthdays and Beginnings

I made the most death-filled cake for Austin's 27th.  Milky Way cake! (it's his favourite candy.... and pinterest called for it .:here:. )   The chocolate cake I used was King Arthur's gluten free --but seriously people, it's the best dang chocolate cake out there... so moist! Sean even ate it and loved it, and that's saying something! The BEST vanilla ever was made by my cousin Rachel... who btw started an amazing blog .:Here:. She's always doing neat homemade stuffs.  Even though this was a crazy nasty sugar upon sugar cake, there's something said about fresh and quality ingredients (the cake mix, the vanilla...)  We enjoyed ourselves with a family event of horseshoes and a dinner :) Of course Austin's dad won. He's pro and has a pit at their home. I think it's neat the city of Laramie has a whole area for horseshoes! I only got one day off this week, and it was so nice to celebrate my awesome husband

Vedauwoo Ninjas

We went to Vedauwoo (Vee-da-voo) today on our day off, and had ourselves too much fun. I was having a particularly good day with the left side, and I'd never been there. It's a national forest just 20 minutes away from our home. Famous for rock climbing, bouldering and hikes, heck we had to go! Dystonia Strong! It was quite an accomplishment for me. Austin is like a deer prancing around this place (he's been there many a times) and I got stuck on a rock lol. We have a picture but it's way too embarrassing and I'm all tears and stuff. But it was the best day ever and a huge accomplishment for me! And Austin is pretty sure he's a mountain man. Enjoy the montage people!    (On the top right, there's a little man climbing!)  Close up from that photo, crazy right?  This is the rock I got stuck on and I was sure I would fall. Afterwards, we took a hike on the trail-trail (meaning

Buckets of Surprises

Juno has been attached to us when we come home from work... literally (she jumps inbetween your legs and purrs and rubs while you walk causing many a trips and tumbles). She waits and waits, and watches what you're doing. And like the classic cat, she has to be a part of it. While I make my lunch, she's gotta hop up to see what's happening too (no, there will be no cat-hair sandwiches on my watch.) Shoo kitty shoo.... Still love you and that you love me! Banished. lol.  I came home from work today much greeted by Juno, and by the crazy thunderstorm. As you can see we have the roofers over because our house needs a lot of work.  Well, half the roof is stripped. Which means I had to get five buckets out to catch the flooding from the ceiling lol! Juno was freaking out because of the LOUD thunder cracks, and a wave of rain hit her in her favourite window. Then the ceiling got her wet too lol. Poor thing was out of her mind. Surprise!  I also

We like Fire

I hope your fourth was as awesome as ours! We both randomly had the day off, so we decided to celebrate it with our Carmen family who live 2 1/2 hours away. You can't get more American than going shooting and having an amazing steak dinner cooked by Susan! I did have a little bit of a watercolour commission to finish off, it was nice just to rest and paint.  We wore ourselves out so bad we all fell asleep on the couch.... but it made for us being super energetic for the fireworks that were showing at the city car racing tracks! It was cold. But that's Wyoming! It actually thunderstormed and we didn't think we'd get any fireworks that night --but it stopped moments before. The radio station played music and speech clips as the fireworks went off. I've never done it that way, (the car radio going) --it definitely made it better in my opinion! Kristine was pretty bummed (Austin's sister that goes to UW too) because she had to work her C
