Six Days Off

My six days on and six days off are coming to a close, I'll miss this chunk of time off with Baby R! But it'll also be good to have Wednesdays off and getting off early enough to have dinner with him. Benefits to both :) As it always works, my days off were cold and full of snow. I actually love the cold if there's snow, it makes it seem so magical. Baby R seems to be fond of the cold too; he sometimes slaps on the glass doors to go touch the snow. I'm learning that toddlers love routine, and nothing can be repeated too many times. He loves to play in his room in the morning, then eat breakfast, then watch this one 40 minute thing on Amazon Prime full of little baby rhymes. His favorite is the "One Little Finger" song. And he might chew the coffee table too and put his hands in the cat food, dump out the dirty laundry etc. Serious goals to decorate his room first! I would ideally like to paint him some fun things :) Maybe a next six

A Peek at Life in Gillette

There it is! Our little town home! I cannot believe it is the same amount of rent as Sheridan! (Though I miss it.) When our place is clean one of these days, and decorations and art are up, I'll post the inside :)  We've never had a garage before! We keep the Kia (Sorrento! That's a fun story, we bought our first car together too!) in the garage, and the red car (Fartmobile: it's old and smells...but works!) outside. I love, love, love our place and am so happy we have one of the green townhomes! I know... I dork out about things like that!  Right now Austin works M-F 8-5pm, and I work 12's, six on and six off. I am switching back to 4 10's because I was following my preceptor. I've been lucky to have her schedule as well, and spoiled by the six days off with this little cutie. Always on the first morning off we have together, we sleep in. I think he may have his mom's need for the ZZzzz's! Grandma Torres got him Jelly Cat, and

Baby R: A Birth Story

This is only 15 months late, but I thought I'd write about my experience having Baby R anyway since pen and paper writing really aren't my thing. This blog has really become the family journal.  You can read about the surprise . :here:. Because of my dystonia and having bilateral DBS stimulators, the anesthesiologists at Sheridan Memorial were not 100% keen on starting an epidural for me. Plus the only "research" done on DBS carrying pregnant individuals only included six people in the study. I was probably the seventh to do it, no joke haha! SO... that led to nitrous gas (laughing gas) which is an alternative option. Or natural birth but like heck I was going to do that. Major nope factor.  Needless to say, I was set on the nitrous oxide thing, and didn't prepare at all for a natural birth.  I was 39 weeks, a week early when having Baby R. As a working Momma and on my feet all day, he was already sitting so low in my hips, and his head engaged. I

Update from Gillette!

Holy crap, it's been a while! Life happened! Babies happened! Jobs and moves happened! Where do I start?  Biggest news, we had Baby R! He's kind of approaching the not-so-baby stage of becoming a toddler here. He's 15 months... whaaat? You can read the super-belated story . :here:. Oh my goodness he looks like his Daddy! I could write for hours and days on how fun this little man has made our lives. But because I've been terrible at journal-keeping, I'll just have to start from here on out.  I left these wonderful people at Sheridan Memorial Hospital because Austin found an incredible job opportunity especially for a new lawyer, here in Gillette. We tried the whole commute thing and miserably failed. Ultimately, it came down to family and I know God blessed me with this job in Gillette doing my dream job still! I'm working very hard on learning the ropes and am making a "Surgical Bible."  Before I left, I also found out (th
