Six Days Off

My six days on and six days off are coming to a close, I'll miss this chunk of time off with Baby R! But it'll also be good to have Wednesdays off and getting off early enough to have dinner with him. Benefits to both :)

As it always works, my days off were cold and full of snow. I actually love the cold if there's snow, it makes it seem so magical. Baby R seems to be fond of the cold too; he sometimes slaps on the glass doors to go touch the snow.

I'm learning that toddlers love routine, and nothing can be repeated too many times. He loves to play in his room in the morning, then eat breakfast, then watch this one 40 minute thing on Amazon Prime full of little baby rhymes. His favorite is the "One Little Finger" song. And he might chew the coffee table too and put his hands in the cat food, dump out the dirty laundry etc.

Serious goals to decorate his room first! I would ideally like to paint him some fun things :) Maybe a next six days off project!

I cannot believe how much energy this little guy outputs. He loves his Rody with the rocking horse stand (he once took a face plant without it so we thought it was a good idea to stabilize him a bit haha) and he always wants to sit on Rody. He says, "Bounce Bounce Bounce" which sounds more like "Bow Bow Bow!" when he sees Rody, so I put him on it and he bounces for quite some time.

I've almost given up dressing him. He takes off his shirt in the middle of Walmart these days. Poor customers hear some funny things down the aisles like...

"No we have to keep our shirt on!"
"Get that sock out of your mouth!"
"Leave your diaper on!"

I recently got a tea cup for my Narwhale diffuser Austin got me for Christmas. And there's the cutest store called Heaven on Earth here in Gillette that sells a bunch of fancy cooking stuff, baby and Momma stuff, and tea! I love the hibiscus goji berry herbal tea especially on cold days. Warms you up, and helps me get in fluids! Supposedly it gives you energy too, but pffft. Nothing can contain the Baby R. Least I try!

(One of these days that bread keeper will be filled again with homemade bread, especially since we've been on a British Baking Show kick.)

Little Man loves his baths especially when he gets congested. He hasn't had bubbles in a while. I did them lots when he was super tiny, and then introduced the bubbles again to him. Scared him so bad he tried to jump ship out of the bathtub, I was laughing so hard!! I know, terrible parent!!

Anyway, he's not jumping ship anymore and has super fun bath play time with bubbles now... as you can see.

In case you missed it, he had RSV as a three month old so his respiratory system is still crap. It's fragile too. A cold can turn into many other things for him. Today, I took him into Urgent Care because he woke up from his 1.5 hour nap with a temp of 103.0 so I gave him Tylenol. He had been crabby that morning as Austin noted, so I brought him in after dosing him.

Another ear infection. As I suspected. But what was incredible that the PA caught was that he had some crappy lung sounds and they were full of junk to the tipping point of sounding diminished. She caught on to his breathing pattern and rate, etc. In short, he's fine but he is back on nebulizer treatments because we don't want his lungs to fill up with more junk and cause more issues. He also got a rash too... poor little guy!

He loves his Jelly Cat (the brand name of the kitty my mom gave him for Christmas) and wouldn't let go of Jelly Cat all day. So Jelly Cat came to the clinic, got squeezed and loved on (and snotted on too)... and will be getting a bath too when all this is through. Here's to another week!

Xoxo,

From Wyoming!

Joyeux Noël

My Mom and Lance came out! Austin and I took it as an opportunity to cook the heck out of our kitchen for them! We got a white Christmas which was amazing. For two reasons: Mom and Lance are from California and so it was magical for them, and it could be our last white Christmas for a while! (A lot of schools are in the South.)  My mom's side of the family is very German so we celebrate Christmas Eve. We used to have minestrone soup, but everyone hated it. So... we turned to our California roots and make tortilla soup instead. As a kid, it always made sense that Christmas happened at night. All the pictures you saw of baby Jesus were at night with the star. My mom said when she was little, she just thought German kids were special haha! I made my mom and Lance some hardcase books, a snowglobe, and got them a ceramic ornament. Santa also surprised them in the morning with a stocking ;) My grandma Hofmann used to make these egg ornaments (she passed away in 19...

Snowglobes of Wonder and Joy

I made snowglobes!  I've always loved those, even as a little kid. Then I saw DIY's on Pinterest, and thought.... Why hadn't I thought of making them before?? So in a nutshell, jars, hot glue, brush christmas trees (or anything plastic-y) glitter... and then to fill the jar, distilled water, glitter and some corn syrup to thicken it! I made all of these (already had jars) for $4.00! We attempted a gingerbread house with some friends... as you can see it looks like a crackhouse.    So... I think it's best I stick with the kind of art I know haha! I made a lot of books this break, and Austin can't complain cause he's an Eng. Lit.  He's been busy cooking some more amazing meals and snacks! Those are a healthy alfredo with quinoa base, and the other are applechips! Visit our Recipe page for cooking instructions .:here:. Also, for those who don't already know after my super obnoxious facebook excitement...

Flying Solo

Austin's been a solo man as of late....  I got super sick with a bacterial infection (as of late, more tests to come.) But before that was Austin with a 5 day flu, and then me with the flu, and then when I got better from that, I got an infection woot woot! Healthy over here! I got super flu-y again over the weekend and I won't go into details. I got a bit better and I had been fine to go teach a class on Monday at my college because I had gotten over what I though to be whatever Austin had. Then Tuesday went to my CNA class. And while I was there I was talking to a friend. She was telling me about her annoying apartment neighboors and I shouted, " UM... I'mma be sick hold on...." And I swear to St. Maria I have every trash can mapped out in that EITC building because when I went bursting down the hallway to the bathroom, it felt like friggin videogames and finding checkpoints.  I ended up cleaning the EITC bathroom stall for them.... let's...
